About this work

The female personification of Faith (Fides), dressed as a nun, stands on the open grave of Christ in a church. She points to an open Bible and the dove of the Holy Spirit. On her head are the tablets of the law. In the church, the sacraments are administered (Mass, marriage, baptism, confession, Eucharist). Around the grave lie the instruments of the Passion. Below the scene, a two-line text in Latin.
