About this work

Fireworks on the court pond in The Hague at the pavilion built in honor of the Peace of Aachen, concluded on 18 October 1748. The pavilion was designed by court architect Pieter de Swart, and the festive firing of the fireworks took place on the evening of Friday, 13 June 1749, as stated in the inscription.
