Fireworks celebrating the Peace of Utrecht, 1713

Pyrotechnic display set off by order of the States of Holland and West Friesland on the Hofvijver in 's-Gravenhage to celebrate the Peace of Utrecht, 14 June 1713. Centrally the Temple of Janus crowned by the Dutch Maiden with a liberty cap in the Dutch Garden. The temple surrounded by seated figures of Faith, Liberty, Commerce, Science, and the Arts. On the left, the explanation of the numbers 1-20 in Dutch. In the last line, the mention of publisher Wilhelmus Koning that he will soon publish an explanation of the emblems, of which A.A. (= Abraham Allard) is "just a silly joke".
