Vertumnus and Pomona

Vertumnus, in the guise of an old woman, bends over Pomona. She sits under a tree, resting her arm on a basket of fruit. In her hand she holds a pruning knife. In the garden where they sit, pots with orange trees stand. On a wall sits a peacock. In the foreground a vine with ripe fruit winds its way into a tree. Putti look on.
