About this work

René de Chalon (1519-1544), Prince of Orange, in armour on horseback, staff in hand. Dressed in blue-green armour with orange stripes and violet coat of arms. His horse has a cover cloth in two shades of red with green fringe. Top left his coat of arms with the Order of the Golden Fleece. René de Chalon became in 1540 Stadtholder of Holland, Zeeland and Friesland.
