About this work

A statue of Apollo supported by a tree stump on which a snake climbs upwards. This statue is known as the Apollo Belvedere because it stood from the beginning of the 16th century in the sculpture garden of the Belvedere, the summer residence of the popes in Rome. Next to the statue sits a draftsman.
