About this work
Around a richly set table the Israelites are having relations with the Moabite women, each holding an idol. Behind them Israelites bow before an idol in a temple, instigated by the pagan women. In a camp in the background it can be seen how Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, kills an Israelite and a Moabite woman with a spear. In front of this it can be seen how the men of Israel are hanged on poles. Illustration of the Bible text Num. 25:1-8. Below the scene the title in Hebrew, English, German, Latin, French and Dutch.
