About this work
Apparition of spirits on the Oudeschans in Amsterdam, on the evening of 8 and 9 October 1833. Along the quay move the ghostly white figures of women in long robes. In the foreground and on the bridge the assembled spectators. The 'spirits' were produced by some students using magic lantern slides. The presentation is framed by a border with humorous figures: students, police officers, children and kissing figures.
