About this work

Incident during the visit of the Prince of Orange and Prince Frederick to the Citadel of Antwerp on September 29, 1831, as General Chassé repeatedly tried in vain to sheath his sword. On the left, the two princes with their retinue; on the right, Chassé with some high-ranking military officers. In the subtitle, a verse of two times seven lines.
