Allegorical figures for an obelisk

Allegorical representation for an obelisk in which two rioters (from the Aansprekers riot of 1696) are chained and suppressed by a soldier. To the left stands Prudence with a mirror and a snake. To the right stands the soldier; on his shield is the abbreviation S.P.Q.A. (the Senate and People of Amsterdam). In his left hand he holds chains with which he has bound the man before him. Under this man lies a man with donkey ears and a broken dagger. On the obelisk two medallions with sea symbolism are visible: above Neptune on his chariot and below the sea. To the left in the background the Town Hall on the Dam.
