About this work
Pieter Brueghel the Younger, painter, son of Pieter Brueghel the Elder. Portrait with a long beard in an oval frame, resting on a tomb, surrounded by Minerva, Fame, and Mercury. Beneath the portrait, a putto with a cloth over his head in a bent posture, holding a torch upside down near a skull. At the feet of Fame lie the attributes of painting (palette) and brushes. At Minerva's side are a compass and a set square. The print has a Latin inscription.
