About this work

Monument for Pieter Adriaansz. van der Werff, burgomaster of Leiden during the siege in 1574, in the Hooglandse Kerk in Leiden by Rombout Verhulst (1661). At the top a portrait, in the middle an oval with Latin text in a frame with oak leaf ornamentation and two putti, at the bottom two coats of arms and an hourglass. Below the portrait two columns with seven lines of Dutch text each.
