About this work

Statue in honor of Amsterdam mayor Egbert de Vrij Temminck for speaking to the Prince of Orange on 8 June 1781. Standing figure with the keys of the city of Amsterdam in one hand, with the other hand he pierces Envy with the spear of liberty. At the foot of the honor pillar, the Amsterdam city maiden and an allegorical female figure with a key and ring (possibly Faith). In the background on the right the town hall and on the left the Klaverstraat.
