About this work

Cleopatra, Queen of Egypt, seated at a table with the Roman military leader Marcus Antonius and a third person. Around them stand several men and servants. Cleopatra is busy dissolving a pearl in a carafe of wine to show her wealth to Antonius. On a cloud in the sky a woman seated on the lap of an old man and a putto.
