Reason admonishes the churches to tolerance. At a table sit the Pope, Luther, and Calvin. Two cats sit on the Pope's shoulders eating pap, Luther plays the lute, and Calvin squeezes orange juice on his veal. To the right, a Baptist kneels by the hearth. Above the hearth, a group of statues of Charity. In the foreground stands a personification of Reason (Ratio) in the figure of a kitchen maid; to the left at the door, another kitchen maid who probably personifies Tolerance with a deer (a reference to Coornhert?). Allegory on the Reformation, ca. 1560. The representation contains several cartouches with texts in Dutch. Possibly the original or an early copy after an unknown original.
