About this work
The winged personification of Vigilance (Vigilantia) sits with an oil lamp in her hand and reads a book. To her right a sandglass and a closed book, to her left lies a cross on an open book near a tree. She stands with her foot on the personification of Sloth (Acedia) who lies asleep on the ground before her. The print has a Latin inscription and is part of a series on virtues and vices.
