Muslim Galley Slaves Receiving Food

About this work
A cook stirs a cauldron and serves food to a group of Islamic galley slaves; the cook himself belongs to this group. Some of them are sitting on the ground eating. These enslaved men are identifiable as Muslims by their characteristic hairstyle (shaved head except for a tuft) which they were obliged to wear. To the right two sailors are in conversation with a papasso (moollah and representative of the enslaved Muslims).
