About this work
Hercules sits next to Omphale, queen of Lydia, who has her arm around him. As a enslaved servant and lover of Omphale, Hercules became 'feminine'; he wore women's clothes and performed 'feminine' tasks such as spinning yarn. Here he holds Omphale's distaff in his hands. Her bow and arrows, the lion's skin, and club lie at her feet. This print is part of an album.
