About this work

Still life of various fabrics and a red children's vest with a pattern of white cranes. In the foreground next to the vest lies a packaged fan; this was a common New Year's gift among merchants. On the black cloth lies a ledger. Print made for the New Year of the Snake, 1809. With two poems. This series has a literary association with a book titled 'A series of shells as brocade of the coast' written by Ôeda Ryûhô in 1749.
