About this work

Frogs sitting on stones in a cage. Behind it a room screen with the image of a man on horseback accompanied by servants. The three books on the ground refer to a collection of poems from the 15th century. The image on the room screen refers to General Minamoto no Yoshiie at the Ide river. The frogs that sit not in the water, but on stones, refer to the title of the print. With two poems.
