About this work

In the middle under an arch stands an allegorical figure representing the twelve months. The figure has a Janus head (old and young), raised sword in the right hand, keys in the left hand. On the scroll above his head: MENSES ANNI SOLARIS. In four niches the personifications of the four seasons. On the frieze the signs of the zodiac. Top left Apollo (Sol) on his sun chariot; top right Diana (Luna) in her triumphal chariot.
