About this work

In the center, under an arch, stands an allegorical figure representing the twelve months. The figure has a Janus head (old and young), a raised sword in the right hand, and keys in the left hand. On the scroll above his head: MENSES ANNI SOLARIS. In four niches, the personifications of the four seasons. On the frieze, the signs of the zodiac. Top left, Apollo (Sol) in his sun chariot; top right, Diana (Luna) in her triumphal chariot.
