About this work
A girl sitting on a red carpet under a blooming cherry tree and behind her a curtain. She licks her brush in preparation for writing a poem on the paper in front of her. The emblem on the curtain is that of the Hanagasa poetry society, which issued this surimono. The three poems on this print also seem to be part of the curtain.
