About this work

A kneeling man (Ichikawa Danjûrô (1791-1859)) in an overkimono with a pattern of peonies, holding a long sword. Possibly the role of Kagekiyo in the play Yaegasumi Soga no kuniito, performed in 1823 in the Ichimura theater in Edo. With two poems. Right panel of a diptych.
