About this work

A woman (Iwai Hanshirô V (1776-1847)) in a kimono with a pattern of small and large shells, holding a fan in the hand of her outstretched arm. Possibly the role of Hitomaru, the daughter of Kagekiyo, depicted on the right panel, in the play Yaegasumi Soga no kuniito, performed in 1823 in the Ichimura theater in Edo. Left panel of a diptych. With two poems.
