About this work

The actor Ichikawa Danjûrô VII (1791-1859) in the play Shibaraku, while he storms through a paper wall. The poem discusses the moment the lead actor storms into the house and shouts "Shibaraku!" (Wait a moment!), one of the key words of the performance.
