About this work
Kabuki actor Ichikawa Danjûrô VII (1791-1859) dressed for his 'Shibaraku' role, looks over a curtain with three ropes at the top. Scene from the play 'Shitennô', in the 1820s performed a number of times in the Tamagawa theater in Edo. With one poem about the Kiba district where Danjûrô lived: The stacks of wood sing a song to the tune of the songbird and the rhythm of the frogs - The spring has arrived in Kiba.
