About this work

In the foreground David with his harp, riding on a lion. In his left hand a cross with a banner. On the banner the reins of Reason. Behind David follow Saul, who threatens him with a spear, and Shimei who curses him. Both are left undisturbed by David. In the background the fight between David and Goliath. The print has a Latin text of six lines on a separate piece of paper and is part of an eight-part series on the Triumph of Patience.
