About this work
Playing children and two women arranging flowers in a room adjoining a garden with blooming chrysanthemums. A third woman hangs a plaque bearing the name 'Hokusôan'. Top left and inverted below the entire scene, poems by various poets. This surimono was probably issued on the occasion of the appointment of the poet Hokusôan as a jury member of the poetry society, or due to the changing of his name. The surimono is folded horizontally in the middle, so that the poems form the reverse of the scene.
