Prince Genji and a lady-in-waiting draw inspiration, sitting on a veranda and looking out over a garden in spring. From the complete series of three surimono, each featuring one of the 'three gentlemen of Japanese literature' in the presence of a lady. Scene from The Tale of Genji by Murasaki Shikibu.
