About this work
King David has a relationship with Bathsheba, the wife of Uriah (2 Samuel 11:1-26). In the background, the prophet Nathan tells David that he will be punished by God because he is in violation of the ninth Commandment: "Thou shalt not covet your neighbor's wife". The print has a Latin inscription. The print series depicts the Ten Commandments through scenes from the Old Testament.
