About this work
Bacchus, seated on a wine barrel, is carried in triumph and supported by the personifications of Transgression and Abundance. Leading the procession are a beggar and a king: the poor and the rich drink wine. Two men with jester's caps carry grapevines. Behind Bacchus walk Freedom, taking a sip of wine, and Opportunity, trying to keep pace. Behind them a merchant with a cup of wine and an account book in his hand. At the very back a brawl caused by the wine. Below the image a four-line verse in Latin.
