About this work
King Solomon sits on his throne rendering judgment. Before the throne stand two women, both claiming motherhood of the living child held by one of them; the dead child lies on the steps. Solomon orders the living baby to be cut in two to determine the true mother. A man stands ready with a sword; the true mother will plead for the child's life. The print is part of an album.
