About this work

After the anointing by Samuel, Saul returns to his father. On the way he passes the grave of Rachel. In the left corner he meets two men looking for him there. Then he meets three men on the right foreground: the first has three male goats with him, the second three loaves of bread and the third a jar of wine. The men give two of the loaves to Samuel. In the background Saul meets prophets making music. These three encounters had previously been predicted by Samuel.
