About this work
On the console sit two children back to back. A third lies on their shoulders with his legs raised. He has a burning candle in his mouth. Plate from a series of flat decorations with grotesques, cartouches, ovals, mascarons, putti, and fantastic creatures. The series consists of three title pages, two text pages with the dedication and preface, and 60 plates, divided into three books.
