About this work
In the foreground, farmers are working in the fields and on the land. They are sowing, mowing, plowing, and digging. In the background, construction and harvesting are taking place. These farmers represent the largest part of the population, the third estate. They must work to feed the rest of the population. The print has a Latin inscription and is part of a series on the different tasks of the three estates.
