About this work

Adam and Eve find the body of their son Abel at the altar; he has been murdered by his brother Cain. Eve kneels beside him with her hands in her hair. On the left, Adam sits wringing his hands on a stone. At the bottom, a reference to the Bible text in Gen. 4 in Latin. This print is part of an album.
