King Ahasuerus gives his signet ring to Haman, with which Haman can have his plan carried out in the name of the king to have all Jews put to death. In the background the decision is proclaimed. A small group of Jews sits mourning with ash on their heads. On the right Queen Esther in her room where she gives a servant the order to bring Mordechai clothes so that he can wear them instead of his mourning clothes. To the left of the building Mordechai refuses to accept the clothes. Further in the background Esther prays for a good outcome. Below the scene a reference in Latin to the Bible text in Est. 3:9.
