About this work
Illustration of the fifth article of the Apostles' Creed ([Christ] who descended into hell; on the third day rose again from the dead). After his death, Christ descends into Limbo. He has broken the gates of hell and extends his hand to Old Testament saints. Adam and Eve stand beside him. In the background to the right, the Resurrection of Christ.
