About this work

Book with two title pages and 96 prints on 98 leaves. The book contains two parts (liber I and II) with depictions of architectural ornaments as part of building orders and portals. The book was first published as: Dietterlin, Wendel (I). Architectura und Austheilung (...). Stuttgart, s.n., 1593. The edition in the possession of the Rijksmuseum was published in Strasbourg by Bernhard Jobin between 1593 (dating of the title page of liber I), 1594 (dating of the title page of liber II) and 1595 (dating of the imprint on the last page). The accompanying text in Latin describes the names and proportions of the ornaments. The first book (liber I) is missing two prints numbered 36 and 37, but these were probably never part of the complete edition. The book was published until 1647 in varying compositions.
