About this work

The allegorical figure of Smell. She holds a flower vase in her hand and smells a flower. She is accompanied by a dog. In the background two Biblical scenes: the washing of Christ's feet by Mary Magdalene (John 12:3) and God's creation of Adam (Genesis 2:7). The print has a Latin inscription and is part of a five-part series about the senses.
