About this work
The female personification of the continent Europe. As queen of the world, she wears a crown and holds a scepter. Before her kneels a woman with a cornucopia. At her feet lie objects symbolizing the arts and sciences. In the left background, a flock of sheep and deer. In the right background, a view of Rome. In the margin, a six-line inscription in three columns in Latin.
