About this work
In the foreground sit two water nymphs as personifications of the Amstel and the Nieuwe Diep. On the right under a canopy Apollo enthrones with the zodiac in his hand. A woman with wings on her head shows him a roll with designs. Behind her stands Ceres with a sheaf of corn. In the middle an obelisk with the book title and a swan as a symbol for the Diemermeer. To the left of that stand Diana and a farmer. In the background a view of the Amstel and the polder area Diemer- or Watergraafsmeer.
