About this work

Printer's mark for the Plantijn printing house in Antwerp. In the center, a hand with a compass, a reference to the signboard 'The Golden Compass'. A scroll with the motto 'Labore et Constantia' curls around the compass. Next to it, the personifications of Labor and Constancy, with a spade and a crucifix.
