About this work
David steals the spear and water jug from King Saul, while the king and his subjects lie asleep in a camp. In the background, David shows the spear and the jug to Saul to demonstrate that he could have killed Saul but spared his life. Below the image is a reference in Latin to the biblical text in 1 Samuel 26. This print is part of an album.
