About this work

The prophet Ahijah has torn his mantle into twelve pieces and hands ten pieces to Jeroboam. The torn mantle symbolizes the division of the Jewish people. Jeroboam became king of ten of the twelve tribes. Below the image is a reference in Latin to the Biblical text in 1 Kings 11:29. This print is part of an album.
