About this work
King Rehoboam consults the elders who had assisted his father Solomon, after the Israelites have asked him to lighten their yoke. The elders advise him to be kind to the people, but Rehoboam ignores their advice. In the left background, he then consults the young men with whom he grew up. They advise him not to meet the people's request and to make their yoke heavier. Below the image is a reference in Latin to the Biblical text in 1 Kings 12:6. This print is part of an album.
