About this work

King Josiah stands on a staircase in the square before the temple, watching as statues of horses and chariots of the sun are pulled from the temple entrance and burned in the square. The statues had been erected in honor of the sun. Below the scene is a Latin reference to the biblical text in 2 Kings 23:11. This print is part of an album.
