About this work
Daniel stands with King Cyrus by the dragon of Babylon, which is worshipped by the Babylonian people. Daniel refuses to worship the dragon and asks the king for permission to kill the dragon without sword or staff. Daniel is ready to feed the dragon a cake of fat, tar, and hair. This will cause the dragon to be torn apart from within and die. Above the image is a reference in Latin to the apocryphal biblical text in Dan. 14. This print is part of an album.
