Esther kneels before King Ahasveros. The king points his scepter at her as a sign of affection. Esther asks the king to come with Haman to the feast she has prepared. To the right in the background the continuation of the story. The king has the chronicles of the kingdom read to him in the evening. It states that Mordechai foiled an attack on the king's life. The king asks Haman, who stands by the bed, how someone who saved the king's life should be honored. In the background Mordechai is seen being paraded in the king's clothes and on the king's horse, while Haman leads him. Below the scene a reference in Latin to the Biblical text in Est. 5-6.
